the physiological age was reduced by 20 years: The personal anti-aging program tested by a biomedical doctor

Mr. Yu Guoliang, a doctor of biomedicine, spent over four years accurately documenting his anti-aging data and sharing his relevant experiences.

After the experiment, his physiological age was 20 years younger.

Mr. Yu Guoliang obtained a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Fudan University in Shanghai in 1983. He then went to the United States for further studies and received a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1990, under the guidance of Professor Elizabeth Blackburn, the winner of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Mr. Yu Guoliang candidly stated that in his own genome sequencing, it was revealed that he was born with the related gene APOE4 for Alzheimer's disease. When he received this result, he was obviously a bit depressed. Why did this gene persist for millions of years without disappearing?

Obviously, from an evolutionary perspective, this gene must also have some benefits and its existence is justified. The latest research findings show that people carrying the Alzheimer's gene in their bodies perform well in both long-term and short-term memory, and also have greater concentration in their work.

This is good news, but he still has some lingering concerns. So he initiated a four-year anti-aging experiment. Want to know which methods can reverse genetic defects and enable the body to grow backward.

He conducted experiments with his own body and guided his practice with scientific theories. He himself holds a doctorate in biomedicine and has surely conducted in-depth research on the current theories in the field of biomedicine regarding anti-aging. Could these theories be effective when applied to himself? He wanted to find out.

His testing equipment was very simple: an Omron scale for measuring weight, body fat, muscle content, and physiological age.

From April 2016 to August 2020, a period of four years and four months passed. During this time, various physical indicators underwent significant changes. According to the results of the same measurement tool and calculation, Mr. Yu Guoliang's biological age has been reduced by a full 20 years.

Of course, this does not mean that his biological age has actually decreased by 20 years, or that he has reversed the aging process. Our bodies naturally age, and there is no true immortality. The idea of being 20 years younger is merely a result calculated by the instrument.

However, through this experiment that lasted for over four years, it was shown that we can delay aging through an appropriate lifestyle, and some aging organs can be repaired or even regenerated. This is also the current direction of cutting-edge regenerative medicine research.

Mr. Yu Guoliang's experiment had a very clear objective, which was to try out various lifestyles and adjust the body to its optimal state by changing habits.

It mainly covers three aspects: diet, exercise and sleep. The method is quite simple. As mentioned repeatedly in all weight loss plans, the most important thing is to consistently carry out the plan.

Diet:

His diet plan is also very familiar to us: 16+8 intermittent fasting.

Apart from time-limited dieting, maintaining a balanced diet every day is also very important.

Of course, one should avoid overeating.

In fact, sticking to a 16+8 diet pattern is not difficult to maintain.

Exercise

Exercising is not magical.

His purpose in exercising is to strengthen his muscles and bones. Therefore, strength training is very important, and he will gradually adjust the intensity of the training.

Strength training should also be carried out gradually. What is done is merely self-weight training, such as push-ups, sit-ups, etc.

Perhaps most people don't pay much attention to strength training in their daily lives, but muscles are the main force in fighting against aging.

The training tools are also very simple: a pair of dumbbells, which can be completed in the living room at home.

Sleep:

The last one is sleep.

The smart watch monitors the quality of sleep and constantly adjusts accordingly.

Why is sleep so important?

Everyone should have experienced this: when the sleep quality at night is not good and one doesn't get enough rest, if one goes for a run as usual the next day, they will feel exhausted all over.

This is the adverse effect that poor sleep has on the body.
