Scrolling through your phone, running, reading... When you do these things, are you following your own heart or someone else's?

Everyone is a unique existence and has their own life rhythm.

Sometimes we feel lost or exhausted because we gradually lose our own pace while walking and are led off our original track by others' voices.

Recognizing oneself and doing what one can and should do might be one of the meanings of our existence in this world.

Recently, I read an article that mentioned "You need to do these 20 things to be at peace in life."

Suddenly, I felt inspired.

True peace comes from a clear self-awareness, after which you can follow your own life rhythm and do the things you should do and enjoy doing.

This "should-do" is not an external standard but the foundation you confirm for yourself in peace, which can make your life run positively.

1、Close the "Time" app, quit useless group chats, and watch fewer short videos?

The article states: Reduce the intake of unnecessary information and eliminate the urge to frequently swipe the screen.

We live in an era of information overflow, and it's not realistic to completely avoid it. Being able to actively filter information is a sign of clarity.

In the subway and on the street, people looking down at their phones form a river of light.

It's not fair to say that everyone is just scrolling through "junk" - the key lies in whether you know why you're looking and what you want to gain.

Scrolling through your phone is, to some extent, a way of interacting with the world.

We want to understand others, perceive changes, and even gain inspiration. From this perspective, it can also be positive.

Just like I enjoy watching the videos of a certain blogger, listening to him analyze trends and interpret the future.

  • He has read the books that I haven't had the chance to read yet,
  • opened up the windows that I haven't noticed, and
  • helped me acquire knowledge that I couldn't have learned otherwise.

This made me think: How should I coexist with this era in a calm and unhurried manner?

So, the important thing is not "not looking", but "selectively looking".

Keep the content that truly nourishes you, and just swipe past the rest.

2、 Running, does sweating also convey emotions?

The article states: "Keep running until you are drenched in sweat. Sometimes what flows out is not sweat, but bad emotions."

Running can certainly be an outlet for emotions, but it shouldn't just be about venting.

What's more sustainable is to view running as a daily rhythm - like eating, sleeping - smoothly integrated into life.

Many people advocate running several kilometers every day.

I don't think it's necessary to chase after the number; what's valuable is consistency.

Jogging, brisk walking, and post-meal walks are all ways to communicate with your body.

The compound effect of long-term persistence is not only about health, but also a stable and confident state of life.

Among all the sports, running might be the simplest and most sustainable. It doesn't require a companion, equipment, or anything else; all it needs is you and a period of time willing to move forward.

3、 Reading is a portable refuge.

Reading is like having three meals a day – it is a very natural habit.

Reading doesn't necessarily mean holding a book in your hands while sipping tea beside you.

In this fast-paced era, sometimes we really don't have enough time.

"Fragments of reading" can actually be a good approach.

Sometimes a good article, a profound video, or even a sincere conversation, all count as reading.

"Reading during fragmented time will make you a completely different person after a year."

The purpose of reading is to understand, grow, and produce. If you just glance over the words without thinking or connecting, no matter how many you read, it's hard to leave a mark.

"China's Warren Buffett" Duan Yongping once said that he didn't read much because he had no books to read when he was young.

While I was young, books were the light in the era of scarcity, allowing me to wander in the world composed of words.

Later, during the pain of a broken heart, it was books that supported me, like a hand pulling me out of the quagmire of emotions.

And later on, reading, after experiencing the ups and downs and joys and sorrows of life, it gave me a deeper understanding of life.

4、 Cultivating hobbies is like planting flowers in your heart.

Calligraphy nurtures composure, plants nourish patience.

Organizing the room and learning to be tidy is about managing the external order as well as organizing the inner self.

Keeping a diary, listening to music, dancing or doing yoga are all ways to interact with yourself in different ways, allowing life not only to move outward but also to take root inward.

They ultimately answer a profound question:

When the world quiets down and you are alone, how do you interact with yourself?

A rich and stable inner world is your most reliable palace.

This is self-discipline during leisure time, a conscious choice to channel life energy towards construction rather than consumption, and your ultimate peace bestowed upon yourself.

Cultivating hobbies is the highest form of self-nourishment.

Conclusion:Life is essentially a long process of spiritual cultivation. During this process, more often than not, we need to be self-disciplined.

True self-discipline is not a painful restraint, but rather the rules you establish for yourself willingly after you have come to understand yourself, leading to peace and freedom.

The popular blogger Dong Yuhui (addicted to reading). He once said something that precisely captured the essence of self-discipline:

"Behind every excellence lies self-torturous self-discipline. Self-discipline is not about getting up early occasionally, not about exercising only when the urge strikes, nor is it intermittent efforts.

Instead, it is maintaining a certain set of rules for oneself over a long period of time. ”

"If you don't take the time to create the life you desire, you will eventually spend a great deal of time trying to cope with the life you don't want."

So in this journey, it is important to find your own rhythm and preferences.
